St Paul's called Rev. Polk Culpepper to be our rector in September, 2005. He was born on May 12,1948 and raised in Alexanderia,LA, a modestly populated city north of Baton Rouge and New Orleans. He played drums in the elementary school rhythm band and the clarinet, baritone sax and basketball in junior high school.

Polk is an alummnus of Washington and Lee University of Lexington VA and Louisiana State University Law School in Baton Rouge, LA. He married Catherine Connell of Louisville while a senior in Law School, moved back back to Alexandria upon graduation and practiced law there for ten years, before moving to Sewanee, TN to attend The School of Theology. After graduation from the seminary, he was ordained in 1987 in the Diocese of Western Louisiana. For the last 19 years, Polk served churches as rector in Kentucky, North Carolina and now in Indiana.

His interests outside the church include: designing, planting and maintaining residential landscapses and according to Polk, occasional forays onto golf courses where landscapes are sometimes destroyed.
Polk tells us that he keeps at least one fiction and one non-fiction book on the bedside table at all times and tries to keep physically fit at "the gym." He also enjoys crossword puzzles.
